Emma OwenZed PR has appointed respected healthcare and consumer PR Consultant, Emma Owen.  Moving to Zed PR fresh from Alliance Boots where Owen was responsible for the national and regional PR roll-out of ‘Your Local Boots Pharmacy’ shops, she will be responsible for Zed PR’s growing portfolio of healthcare and wellbeing clients.

In addition to Alliance Boots, Owen’s healthcare clients have included Olay, Clairol, Johnson’s and Evian. With a solid consumer background, she also spend five years as the Press Officer for Madame Tussauds, managing celebrity wax sittings and the accompanying global PR campaigns.

Young Enterprise Team Show that Business and Pleasure Mix Well

Tristan Campbell has been crowned ProEvo Champion of Blessed Hugh Faringdon School, after the schools’ Young Enterprise team, Edge 22, ran a tournament which culminated in a shoot out that was so close it ran into stoppage time. (ProEvo Soccer is a popular gamers’ football programme, where players use a mix of skill, fast thinking and tactical judgement to pick and play winning football teams.)

Campbell, 15, and runner up, Adam Cashin-Murray, fought off 32 other entrants. The final bout had both honour and a £30 top prize at stake and was cheered on by both friends and the school’s Young Enterprise team. The score when the whistle blew was four all, with Campbell scoring the winning goal in the last few minutes.

A Third of Over Fifties Face Uncertainty in Retirement

A survey undertaken by Nick-James.com, the online club for entrepreneurs has revealed that a third (29.6%) of over fifties will not have sufficient income to live on comfortably in retirement.

“This survey was taken amongst a relatively affluent group – people who use the Internet – so the figure may be hiding a bigger problem,” said Nick James, founder of the site.

The survey (1) showed that most of those who are not well enough provided for will simply try and economise (32%), almost half have no idea how they will manage (45%), and around 13% will look for part time jobs or hold off retiring for as long as they can.  Only 7.5% were looking at releasing the equity in their properties.
