According to most analysts, any business buying a new telephone system within the next few years will make a move to IP telephony, the very latest in telephony technology, lured by the features, flexibility and cost. Business telecoms provider, Reality Telecom plc, concerned by the growing number of ‘rogue traders’ in the market has issued a set of guidelines to businesses considering the move.
“Whilst applications like Skype are great for consumer calls, and even the odd business call where you’re prepared to trade cost for quality, for most business calls quality is an absolute must,” said Simon Slater Thomas, CEO, Reality Telecom. “To make any IP telephony system work well, there’s a vital ‘Holy Trinity’: the quality of the broadband, the handset/phone, and the network. If any one of these elements is poor, it will reflect in the resultant quality. Businesses don’t need to spend a fortune to get it right – in a good hosted solution the supplier will have done the legwork for them. Callers are used to great quality telecoms. A good system keeps it that way but makes life easier.”
SME business telecoms specialist Reality Telecom plc has today officially launched an IP-enabled version of its flagship product, Call Navigator IP™ (www.callnavigatorip.co.uk), a phone service for businesses which is centrally managed and maintained by Reality Telecom, yet controlled by the customer. Call Navigator IP™ offers sophisticated call handling features made simple. It works by allowing business customers to share telephony services and applications over a secure telecoms network – meaning that businesses have access to state of the art features that they would otherwise be unable to cost-justify.
No special equipment is needed in order to use the service, making it cheaper than a traditional phone service. It can work 24/7 as a standalone telephone service, removing the need for costly investment in a switchboard, or it can be used alongside an existing switchboard to offer supplementary functionality.

Reality Telecom has strengthened its channel presence by appointing Anna Russell as the Channel Manager for its new, flagship telephony system, Call Navigator IPtm. In her new role she will be working closely with new and existing channel partners to help maximise business opportunities by acting as an extension to their sales team.
Russell has eight years experience in sales distribution and has successfully set up and managed significant distribution channels for high tech products and services. Reality Telecom has recently added VoIP to its product portfolio and Russell’s responsibilities will include the formal launch to the Channel during October, as well as managing the rollout of the new product to Reality’s existing Channel Partners.
