Bristol’s Biggest Riders Challenged To Go The Extra Mile
Friday 16 June 2006 @ 1:00 pm

Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride participants are being challenged to ‘go the extra mile’ and use the event as a springboard for the Action 100 Bike Ride in August 2006. Action Medical Research, the charity behind the fundraiser, hopes to embrace the summer spirit which sees roughly 4000 people taking to the streets for Bristol’s Biggest Bike Ride, and enrol some of the cyclists for their own challenge.

The 100 mile Action 100 Bike Ride, which covers a scenic route from Bristol and Bath to London, recruits hundreds of riders each year and this summer celebrates its Silver Jubilee. Those already gearing up for Bristol’s Biggest in June can exploit the perfect timing of the rides and build their training for the August fundraiser.

For those who fancy donning fundraising helmets, the Action 100 Bike Ride on Sunday 27th August 2006 is a fantastic way to support an influential national charity. In its history Action Medical Research has pioneered the polio vaccine in the UK, the hip replacement and the use of ultrasound in pregnancy, and currently funds research across areas including osteoporosis and premature birth.

‘It’s great that “Bristolians” are getting on their bikes this summer,’ says Ev Milker, Action 100 Chair. ‘We have a beautiful city so it makes sense to enjoy it. The ride is hoping for 750 riders this year, so we would love a fantastic local turn-out!’

If you would like to sign up for the ride, please contact Roy Clark, Registration Officer, on (0117) 973 6993, or email registration@action100ride.org.uk. You can find more information online at www.action100ride.org.uk.
